“One minute you’re wondering if you’re ever going to be able to fight again. It was just having faith in the doctors I had and having faith in God and believing that one day if my health is good that I’ll find myself back in the octagon.”
Lesnar was set to fight Junior dos Santos at UFC 131 on June 11 after a successful stint as opposing coaches on “The Ultimate Fighter 13″ when he had his second bout with diverticulitis. He had a 12-inch piece of his colon removed and repaired in the surgery.
“First and foremost a guy wants to be healthy,” Lesnar said. “If anybody has ever gone through a health crisis, until you go through something like that, I think everybody takes their health for granted a little bit.
“I feel good. I feel really good. I’m very excited to get back in the octagon. It’s refreshing to be back in the saddle again.”
Lesnar was cageside when dos Santos scored a 64-second KO over Cain Velasquez to capture the UFC heavyweight championship.
