Last month, iconic Ultimate Fighting Championship site coordinator and former boxing manager, Burt Watson, 69, announced that he is launching his own mixed martial arts promotion. Last week, the eponymous Burt Watson Promotions announced via a press release that it will be holding its first event on June 15 in Hollywood, Florida.

Taking place at the Hard Rock Event Center at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, “MMA LIVE,” as it’s being called, will feature a 12-bout card with athletes from across the globe. The event will feature both MMA and combat jiu-jitsu matches.

“It’s a different world as a promoter, but our team at Burt Watson Promotions has put together a card that we’re really proud of, and I know the fans are going to love,” said Watson. “Get ready because there’s going to be plenty of action from the first fight to the last.”

Dubbed the “The Babysitter to the Stars” by UFC color commentator Joe Rogan, Watson was essentially the backstage shot-caller for all UFC events during his 14-year stint. Watson’s departure from the UFC in 2015 shocked the MMA world, but Watson kept his chin up and rolled onward, which is an attribute closely tied to Watson, a man known for catchphrases like “we rollin,” “let’s roll, baby” and “it’s time to roll.”

Watson’s foray into MMA promotions kicks off on June 15 with a main event headlined by Miami’s own “Know Way” Jose Caceres (14-8-1, 1 NC). Caceres, brother of UFC featherweight Alex Caceres, is identified in the press release as “the only man to defeat current UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman.” Caceres will face Fort Lauderdale’s Fred Moncaio (6-3) in a three-round welterweight contest.
