Anderson Silva’s manager Ed Soares, on “Beatdown,” discussing the impact of Silva’s recent win over Chael Sonnen:

“Anderson was definitely one of the biggest sports stars right now out of Brazil, and I think that this fight and all the things that Chael said about Anderson and about Brazil, I think really transformed Anderson not just as a huge sports star but I believe Anderson now is a national hero. I don’t like making comparisons to other sports greats, but I definitely would put him up there on a pedestal along with Pele and Zico and Ronaldo. Anderson Silva is definitely up there amongst those guys now as representing the nation of Brazil.”
