Gomez has been confirmed for Bellator’s upcoming season three
bantamweight tournament.
Gomez (6-1) will join Danny Tims and Mark Oshiro in the tournament fold. The announcement was made on Thursday in a press release.
“I love the tournament format, I love that they market to Hispanics,” said the 26-year-old Gomez, a native of Las Vegas, Nev., in the release. “God’s given me the talent, so now I want to make the most of it.”
The third season of Bellator kicks off on Aug. 12. A venue and date for the start of the 135-pound tournament has not been made public.
“Ulysses has a great background in jiu-jitsu which could serve him well in our 135 tournament,” stated Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney. “He comes to us through the same management team that provided Joe Soto during Season 1, so their track record is very impressive. We’re happy to have him and look forward to watching him fight in our Bantamweight Tournament this summer.”
