HBO to Re-Air First Ward-Kovalev Fight Ahead of June 17 Rematch
Cable giant HBO announced that it will re-air the classic first
encounter between Andre Ward and Sergey Kovalev ahead of their
highly-anticipated rematch later this month. The two light
heavyweights will lock horns on June 17 from inside Mandalay Bay in
Las Vegas but for fight fans who missed out on their first go
‘round, they can see all the action that caused so much debate.
Ward was announced the winner via razor-thin decision, though many in the sport felt that Kovalev should have gotten the nod. The action was intense throughout and the drama was at an all-time high and HBO is ready to relive the action from last November.
The first re-airing will be on Friday, June 9, at 12:45 a.m. ET/9:45 p.m. PT, followed by June 10 at 9 a.m. ET/PT. The fight will also be available 24 hours a day for all HBO Now, HBO On Demand and HBO Go subscribers beginning June 5.
