Ivan Redkach to Meet Argenis Mendez in PBC on FS1 Main Event May 2
A pair of lightweights will anchor a PBC on FS1 “Toe-To-Toe
Tuesdays” card early next month as Ivan Redkach will take on former
world champion Argenis Mendez over 10 rounds. The event will take
place May 2 at Sportmen’s Lodge Event Center in Studio City,
Calif., and will be televised live on both FS1 and Fox Deportes at
9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
“I'm very thankful for this opportunity to fight Argenis Mendez,” said Redkach (20-2-1, 16 KOs). “He is a solid fighter, a professional and on May 2, we'll both be ready to put on a show for our fans. I know that this victory will lead to even bigger fights.”
Mendez (23-5-1, 12 KOs), a 2004 Olympian, echoed his upcoming opponent’s excitement. “As a former world champion, I know that these are the kinds of fights that I have to win to stay in contention for another championship,” Mendez stated. “Ivan Redkach is a tough fighter, but I will be prepared for victory on May 2.”
Opening the telecast will begin with a super bantamweight showdown between Brandon Figueroa (11-0, 8 KOs) and Luis Saavedra (7-2, 3 KOs) in an eight-rounder. Antonio Santa Cruz (5-2, 2 KOs), the cousin of three-division world champ Leo Santa Cruz, will take on Arturo Torres (7-5-1, 2 KOs) in a six-round bantamweight tussle.
