Josh Gross Joins Press Row

Every Thursday, Administrative Editor Jordan Breen welcomes a member of the mixed martial arts media into “Press Row” on the Sherdog.com blog. This week, Breen is joined by veteran MMA journalist Josh Gross, now of The Guardian.

We're just days away of the most hotly anticipated rematch in MMA history, a fight that could cap or continue the most intense rivalry the sport has ever seen, with Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones finally rematching over the UFC light heavyweight title at UFC 214. There's no shortage of angles to tackle Cormier-Jones 2, so Breen and Gross hit as many as possible to put the showdown in its historical context.

The two discuss the rivalry's similarities to and differences from that of Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier, competition and hatred as essential components of a great rivalry, how psychology informed strategy for both fighters in their first meeting and why it should again in the rematch, how a second loss to Jones will define Cormier's legacy and what the future will be for the newly-unrepentant version of “Bones,” in victory or defeat.

Grab your credential and get a seat in “Press Row.”
