M-1 Finalizes 12-Bout Lineup for ‘Americas Round 2’
Brian Knapp Jun 26, 2010
UFC veteran Shane Primm
will collide with Wesley Welch
in a middleweight matchup at M-1 Global “M-1 Selection 2010: The
Americas Round 2” on Saturday at Bally’s Hotel in Atlantic City,
N.J. The event will feature 12 bouts across five weight
classes.
A quarterfinalist on Season 8 of “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series, Primm has lost two of his last three fights. The German-born 25-year-old last appeared in May, when he submitted Benjamin Jones under the Reality Combat Championship banner in Jacksonville, Fla. Primm was cut by the UFC in wake of his submission loss to Krzysztof Soszynski at “The Ultimate Fighter 8” Finale in December 2008. He holds victories against International Fight League veteran Mike Dolce and former World Extreme Cagefighting light heavyweight title contender Ariel Gandulla.
Welch, nicknamed “The Salamander,” will carry a four-fight winning streak into the match, though he has not competed since he submitted Brad Nordquist with a first-round armbar in October. Based in Yelm, Wash., the 27-year-old trains alongside UFC veteran Dennis Hallman at Victory Athletics. Nine of Welch’s 12 career wins have come by submission.
