Opinion: ‘Cowboy’ Needs Some ‘Showtime’

Donald Cerrone is a gifted striker with a sound jiu-jitsu game. In today’s wrestler-heavy lightweight division, that means most opponents are going to look to take and hold him down to a decision.

After he put on a low-kick clinic against Vagner Rocha at UFC 131 on Saturday, it seems almost a shame to waste Cerrone’s run in the UFC -- now two wins in a row -- against someone that will pose a lousy style matchup for him.

Yes, at some point, everyone at 155 pounds is going to have to deal with the murderer’s row of wrestlers, but right now, I would love to see Cerrone tackle fellow WEC alum Anthony “Showtime” Pettis. It is a dynamite match sure to provide fireworks and plenty of style en route.
