Podcast: Johny Hendricks, Tarec Saffiedine
TJ De Santis and Jeff Sherwood returned to the Sherdog Radio
Network Wednesday for another edition of “Beatdown.” On today’s
show they welcomed in UFC welterweights Tarec
Saffiedine and Johny
Hendricks.
It’s been a crazy month for Team Takedown product Hendricks. The Texas based welterweight went from losing a controversial decision to Georges St. Pierre to preparing for a second chance at UFC welterweight gold as he faces Robbie Lawler in March at UFC 171. The two welterweights will vie for the title after GSP vacated the crown to embark on an indefinite hiatus. Hendricks joined De Santis and Sherwood to chat about Lawler, St. Pierre’s decision to leave MMA and what it will be like to fight in his hometown for the first time. The former OSU Cowboy also shares his thoughts on if GSP will ever return to the UFC’s Octagon
Saffiedine wrote his name in the history books forever in his last fight when he defeated Nate Marquardt to become the final Strikeforce welterweight champion. Since then the Team Quest product has been forced to endure nearly a year long layoff due to injuries. Now, just weeks away from his UFC debut, “The Sponge” joined De Santis and Sherwood to talk about his main event fight with Hyun Gyu Lim and what it’s like to finally compete as a UFC fighter. The Belgian also chats about what it will be like to fight on the first UFC card in Singapore.
