Yves Edwards: Bout Against Jeremy Stephens ‘Works Out Perfectly’
Yves
Edwards, on “Cheap
Seats,” discussing how his experience has helped him deal with
opponent switches ahead of his Dec. 8 bout against Jeremy
Stephens at
UFC on Fox 5:
“I definitely think experience helps a lot and the fact that I’m from an era when I’ve been to shows before there were commissions. Going to shows back in those days, I used to corner my friend and take my gear with me in case someone didn’t have an opponent and I would get a chance to fight. I think that stayed with me in that I’m always ready, always wanting to fight and always ready to fight. So I’m not too worried about that as far as opponents getting switched up on me in the last couple of weeks. Fortunately it was a guy that was I scheduled to fight before. I’ve done a whole training camp for him. I’ve done a lot of video and strategy and tape and study on Jeremy. That cream just rises back to the top, and I’m ready to go. It’s one of those things that it could have been really bad, but the situation actually works out perfectly.”
