Sherdog’s Top 10: Conor McGregor’s Signature Moments
No. 8
8. Octagon Leap
Conor McGregor was supposed to face a significant test against Dennis Siver in the UFC Fight Night 59 main event on Jan. 18, 2015. In reality, the German powerhouse stood little chance, as McGregor ripped him to shreds before forcing the stoppage in the second round. It was an emphatic victory and served as the Irishman’s final barrier to the featherweight division’s upper echelon.
Before fans could catch their breath, McGregor climbed up and over the Octagon fence and bolted for where featherweight champion Jose Aldo was seated. He got in the Brazilian champion’s face, traded some verbal barbs and challenged him on the spot. Punches were never thrown, and Aldo simply smiled at his tormentor. However, it was there that McGregor began building heat for his showdown with the Nova Uniao standout.
