ODDS: Silva (-125), Glenn (+105)

This should be an enjoyable scrap between fighters returning from long layoffs. Silva has followed in the tradition of Vitor Belfort, as “Netto BJJ” extols the virtues of Brazilian jiu-jitsu while mostly just trying to knock out opponents inside the cage. There has not been much nuance to that approach, but Silva’s blitzes make him a reliably exciting fighter, even if losses to Vinc Pichel and Nasrat Haqparast in his last three fights have given him a clear ceiling. Nearly two years after that Haqparast loss, Silva returns against Glenn, who has not been seen since a late 2018 loss to Kevin Aguilar. Even though he is just 32 years old, Glenn feels like the type of fighter who has been a gritty veteran for over a decade. There is not much flash to “The Gladiator,” but he is always willing to move forward and take damage in the hopes of overwhelming or outwrestling his adversaries. It will be interesting to see how Glenn looks physically, given both the long layoff and this marking a full-time move to lightweight; his large frame for a featherweight was typically something he was able to leverage.

This should be a close fight. Silva can run into some issues against fighters who consistently pressure him, but the Brazilian should have enough openings to return fire and clip Glenn hard. The bet is that Silva’s power can make up the difference on the scorecards versus Glenn’s control. The pick is for Silva to take a narrow decision.
