7. Edson Barboza

Speak to any fighter in today’s MMA, and one of the names most often mentioned in regards to leg kicks is Barboza. Although he tasted defeat in his most recent bout against Donald Cerrone, his game plan against each and every fighter he challenges normally employs heavy amounts of kicks.

Not often do fighters win bouts via TKO due to leg kicks, but the young Brazilian has accomplished the feat three times already in his 15-fight career. This does not even mention his spectacular spinning wheel kick knockout of Terry Etim at UFC 142.

The torque generated by Barboza in each and every strike is something to behold and was on full display after he was nearly finished by Danny Castillo at UFC on Fox 9. “Last Call” was not able to put away the former Ring of Combat champion, mainly because he was under constant assault from the leg and body shots Barboza threw. The 28-year-old is far from done under Zuffa’s banner, and one can only expect to see more of his dangerous kicking game moving forward.
