6. Lyoto Machida

“The Dragon” has always been veiled in mystique for a variety of reasons. The son of a Japanese father and a Portuguese-Italian mother, Machida spoke little English and brought his brand of karate to MMA. His elusive style made him a favorite for some and a target of criticism for others.

Over the years, Machida improved his English and communication skills but remained something of a novelty, even after he captured the UFC light heavyweight championship and scored highlight-reel knockouts against Rashad Evans, Ryan Bader and Randy Couture. He comes off as indifferent to interviews and press conferences but has nevertheless carved out quite career for himself.
