No. 5
5. Dustin to Dust
They spent weeks bickering with one another, their hostile banter providing endless entertainment to the masses. Dustin Poirier had never been knocked out before, and Conor McGregor promised to change that. As the two featherweights approached their showdown, most anticipated a competitive battle. What transpired at UFC 178 had the MMA community buzzing for weeks.
McGregor opened with a series of spinning head kicks from all angles, though Poirier blocked or avoided them all. Whenever Poirier landed something remotely clean, the Irishman simply shook his head in disdain. The tension built to a crescendo. Finally, Poirier changed levels and was met with a short left hand that made his legs rubbery. The American Top Team standout flopped to his knees, and McGregor finished it with a volley of hammerfists. The end came 1:46 into round one.
