Tie Quan Zhang vs. Jason Reinhardt
The Matchup: This looks like a possible pink-slip matchup, at least for one of the participants. Zhang and Reinhardt both lost their most recent outings on center stage. Zhang dropped a unanimous decision to Daniel Downes at WEC 53 in December; Reinhardt was a perfect 18-0 entering his UFC 78 bout with Joe Lauzon and was promptly dominated en route to a choke submission a mere 74 seconds into the fight. He has since gone 2-0 against decidedly subpar opposition.
With the UFC’s drive to get into China and build local attractions there, one does not have to be Sherlock Holmes to deduce the obvious: this match exists to get Zhang a win.
The Pick: Zhang by second-round KO, at which point UFC President Dana White starts dropping hints about a “big surprise” that will be announced at the Great Wall.
