UFC 215 Betting Preview

WOMEN’S BANTAMWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP

Amanda Nunes+107 over Valentina Shevchenko -127 The fight that was supposed to happen in July is finally here. Women’s Bantamweight Champion Amanda Nunes will defends her title for the second time against fellow death bringer Valentina Shevenko. This is going to be awesome.

Nunes already owns a win over Shevchenko dating back to August 2015 where she beat her convincingly by unanimous decision. Since then, the Russian Bullet has gone on to beat Holly Holm and Julianna Pena.

Both competitors are 29 years old and right in the thick of their prime, but Nunes has to brimming with confidence knowing that she’s seen what her opponent has in store for her. Nunes has been an ever-improving champion in this sport and is soaring on a five-fight win streak and is perhaps the deadliest fighter in the game.

This is going to be an onslaught from the bell so don’t blink. Nunes as a tight underdog is a gift from the BetOnline.ag oddsmakers, who are giving Shevchenko some well deserved respect but ignoring just how great Nunes is about to become.

Rafael dos Anjos -193 over Neil Magny +168

Despite a loss to Tony Ferguson and a mild victory over Tarec Saffiedine (which seemed like more of a layup than a real fight), dos Anjos remains one of the best fighters in the world. His lost to Eddie Alvarez with what felt like a lucky punch, and there’s no doubting Ferguson’s class. Those that are writing the early obituary of dos Anjos’s career will be put in their place when he faces off against Neil Magny during the next chapter in his shift to welterweight.

Gilbert Melendez -110 over Jeremy Stephens -110

This fight is likely to open the card and as much of a toss-up as you can find. Stephens has been on the skids for years going just 2-5 SU dating back to 2014 and hasn’t beaten decent competition in a long time. At the very least, Gilbert Melendez has gone 0-3 SU in his last three fights against Anthony Pettis, Eddie Alvarez and Edson Barboza. I don’t think you’ll see either of these guys in the title scene anytime soon but the easier bet to make at BetOnline.ag is on the more talented Melendez.

Tyson Pedro -125 over Ilir Latifi +105

If the women’s bantamweight fight wasn’t the co-headliner on this card, Latifi-Pedro might steal fight of the night. Latifi is an aggressive knockout artist, who sometimes has the habit of walking straight in to some bad hands and knees. But he’s the perfect litmus test for the up-and-coming Pedro who is 6-0 SU with zero fights lasting past the first round. Either Latifi lands a lucky shot or Pedro proves that he really deserves some better matchups. I’m betting on the latter at UFC 215.
