UFC on Fox 30: By the Numbers

Dustin Poirier and Eddie Alvarez could fight 100 times and never disappoint.

Alvarez might disagree with that sentiment after an illegal elbow slowed his momentum, and ultimately set the stage for Poirier to score a wildly entertaining second-round technical knockout victory in the UFC on Fox 30 headliner in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, on Saturday night. While only Poirier had his hand raised at the end of the night, both men further cemented their identities as two of the sport’s most thrilling all-action competitors.

1,323: Days since Joanna Jedrzejczyk was involved in a non-title bout. The lowered stakes did not affect the Polish fighter’s performance, as she cruised to a three-round verdict over Tecia Torres in a featured 115-pound affair.

29: Significant strikes by which Jedrzejczyk outlanded Torres. The former strawweight queen outlanded her foe 12 to 1 in round one, 23 to 20 in round two and 27 to 12 in round three.

0: Takedowns landed in 10 attempts for Torres.

49: Total strikes by which Alexander Hernandez outlanded Olivier Aubin-Mercier in their featured lightweight clash. That included a 22-to-7 edge in round two and a 38-to-2 advantage in round three as “The Great’ earned a unanimous decision.

38: Significant clinch strikes landed by Ion Cutelaba in a first-round technical knockout win over Gadzhimurad Antigulov at light heavyweight. Cutelaba landed 40 total significant strikes before stopping his opponent with elbows 4:25 into the opening frame.

131: Significant strikes landed by John Makdessi in a three-round verdict over Ross Pearson, a career high for the Canadian in 15 career UFC appearances. His previous best of 114 came in a split-decision loss to Yancy Medeiros at UFC 194.

26: Significant head strikes by which Katlyn Chookagian outlanded Alexis Davis in a unanimous decision win at flyweight.

33: Significant leg strike advantage for Davis, who also outlanded her foe 70 to 62 overall in significant strikes.

8: UFC flyweight triumphs for Dustin Ortiz following his first-round stoppage of Matheus Nicolau Pereira. That ties him with John Moraga for the third-most in the history of the division. Only Demetrious Johnson (13) and Joseph Benavidez (10) have won more at 125 pounds.

3: Consecutive victories for Ortiz, tying him with Moraga and Deiveson Figueiredo for the second longest active streak in the division, well behind the reigning champ “Mighty Mouse,” who has won 13 in a row.

4: Finishes for Ortiz, tying him with Benavidez and John Lineker for the third most in the history of the division behind Johnson (seven) and Moraga (five). In addition to Pereira, Ortiz has stopped Hector Sandoval, Willie Gates and Jose Maria Tome inside the Octagon.

10: Takedowns successfully defended by Nina Ansaroff in a unanimous decision win over Randa Markos at strawweight. Markos converted just one of takedown 11 attempts while being outlanded 49 to 23 in significant strikes.
