Cage Warriors 79 Weigh-in Results: Svensson, Clist Eventually Cleared to Fight

By Mike Sloan Oct 14, 2016
U.K.-based mixed martial arts promotion Cage Warriors Fighting Championship returns with another event loaded with action on Saturday and it should be a fun time. However, Cage Warriors 79, which takes place at the Newport Centre in Newport, South Wales, had a minor bout of controversy at Friday’s weigh-ins.

Lightweight contenders Martin Svensson and Scott Clist, who headline the event, were the prominent figures at the scale but while Clist came in at 155.5 pounds, his opponent was .3 pounds above the limit. Svensson had to weigh-in again after losing the extra baggage and when he did, he checked in at 155.7 pounds, giving their tussle the green light.

Cage Warriors 79 will stream live in America on UFC Fight Pass. The main card kicks off at 4 p.m. ET/1 p.m. PT.
