Two MMA legends will throw down on Nov. 24 when Chuck Liddell, 48, faces off against Tito Ortiz, 43, for a third fight, this time under the Oscar De La Hoya’s Golden Boy Promotions. The poster for the event has been released by Golden Boy Promotions through its official Twitter account.
The two pioneers of the sport have met twice already. At UFC 47 in 2004, Liddell put on a sprawl-and-brawl performance for the ages, turning aside the takedown attempts of his one-time training partner and lighting him up with strikes on the way to a second-round knockout. The second encounter between the pair occurred in 2006 at UFC 66 while Liddell was the reigning Ultimate Fighting Championship light heavyweight champion. On that night Ortiz fared a little better, but it ended the same with Liddell stringing together a combo of punches and dropping “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” in the third round.
Both men have come out of retirement for this fight -- while Ortiz fought as recently as last June, Liddell retired in 2010 on the heels of three straight knockout losses -- and will be looking for a win to close out the trilogy.
