Conor McGregor Posts Video After Being Struck by Car While Riding Bike

A small car is no match for Ultimate Fighting Championship star Conor McGregor.

On Friday afternoon, McGregor was out for a ride by himself on his bicycle in Ireland. When riding around a corner, a white car came around and struck him. McGregor did not report any serious injuries, and he showed a tear in his pants. The damage to the bike was too substantial to use it to go home, so he asked the driver, named Nick, to bring him home. While amped up from the accident, an otherwise cogent McGregor seemed in good spirits, telling the driver, “all good, mate, all good,” as he documented what happened.

“Got a bang of a car just now from behind,” McGregor wrote on Instagram. “A sun trap, the driver couldn’t see me. Full speed straight thru me. Thank you God, it wasn’t my time. Thank you wrestling and judo also. Having an awareness on the landing saved my life.”

In the video, pieces of the bike and his equipment lay scattered on the ground, including a water bottle. The concerned driver rushed to McGregor and told him he could not see anything while apologizing profusely to the fighter. McGregor told him not to worry about it, while remarking that he “could have been dead” from the collision.

The Irishman has not set foot in the cage since June 2021, when he broke his leg when competing against Dustin Poirier in their rubber match. Taking the long road to recovery, McGregor opted out of fighting in 2022 but reportedly plans on coming back to the Octagon in 2023. It is unclear at this point if he suffered any internal damage that will need more time to mend.

McGregor has been in the news as of late for multiple reasons as well, including a report from a Spanish newspaper that he allegedly attacked a woman on his yacht back in 2022. Additionally, “Notorious” has floated a comeback through “The Ultimate Fighter,” in which he would serve as a coach. Tony Ferguson has voiced his interest to run the opposing team, while claiming on Thursday that he received an offer from the promotion to do so.
