Heavyweights Struve, Barry Collide at UFC Live 6

A heavyweight confrontation between Pat Barry and Stefan Struve (pictured) has been green-lit for UFC Live 6, the promotion announced Tuesday.

Emanating from the Verizon Center in Washington D.C., the event will also feature a bantamweight title tilt between Dominick Cruz and Demetrious Johnson and a welterweight scrap pitting Anthony Johnson against Charlie Brenneman. The show goes down Oct. 1 and will air live on cable network Versus.

Barry has lost two of his last three bouts. The kickboxing specialist has already fought twice in 2011, as he rebounded from his 2010 defeat to Mirko Filipovic by chopping down Joey Beltran in January. His sophomore effort this year would not prove as successful, however, as Barry was knocked cold by Cheick Kongo after hurting the Frenchman early in their UFC Live 4 main event.

Struve was also blasted in his most recent Octagon appearance, eating a right straight from Travis Browne that spelled disaster at UFC 130 in May. Prior to that knockout loss, Struve had won five of his last six fights, losing only to Roy Nelson in that span. Only 23 years old, “Skyscraper” holds UFC wins over Sean McCorkle, Christian Morecraft and Paul Buentello.
