A rib injury has forced Costas Philippou to pull out of a proposed middleweight bout against Uriah Hall at UFC Fight Night in Boston.
Sherdog.com confirmed Philippou’s exit with a UFC official following an initial report from MMAJunkie.com. A replacement foe for Hall has not been announced. UFC Fight Night "McGregor vs. Siver" takes place at the TD Garden on Jan. 18 and features a featherweight clash between Conor McGregor and Dennis Siver.
Philippou, 35, last appeared at UFC Fight Night “Brown vs. Silva,” where he scored a first-round knockout against Strikeforce veteran Lorenz Larkin. That victory halted a two-fight skid for the Bellmore Kickboxing Academy product, who had fallen to Francis Carmont and Luke Rockhold in his previous two outings.
After losing the first two bouts of his UFC tenure, Hall has rebounded to post consecutive triumphs over Chris Leben and Thiago Santos in his most recent Octagon appearances.
