Kiwi Luke Jumeau Makes UFC Debut Versus Dominique Steele at UFC Fight Night 110 in Auckland
The Ultimate Fighting Championship's return to New Zealand has a new 170-pound bout added to its agenda.
Welterweights Dominique Steele and debuting Kiwi Luke Jumeau will reportedly do battle on the undercard of UFC Fight Night 110, which takes place June 11 at the Vector Arena in Auckland. News of the bout was broken by New Zealand's 1NewsNow.com, though the UFC has yet to officially announce the bout.
The 29-year-old Steele has gone 1-3 in his UFC tenure. “Non-Stop Action Packed” was knocked out in just 43 seconds in his July 2015 promotional debut by Zak Cummings, but evened his mark with a third-round stoppage of “Maestro” Dong Hyun Kim. However, the Ohio native has lost his last two outings, dropping unanimous verdicts to Danny Roberts and Court McGee in 2016.
Jumeau, also 29, suffered consecutive submission losses to eventual UFC veterans Li Jingliang and Jake Matthews back in 2013, but has gone undefeated since. “Jedi” has won six in a row, all via stoppage, including a second-round knockout of “Ultimate Fighter” vet Vik Grujic.
UFC Fight Night 110 is headlined by a heavyweight clash between native New Zealander Mark Hunt and fast-rising slugger Derrick Lewis. The main card airs live on Fox Sports 1 on the evening of June 10 due to the time differences between the United States and New Zealand.
