Alex Polizzi and Jamal Pogues will vie for the vacant light heavyweight crown in the Legacy Fighting Alliance 82 headliner on Feb. 21.
The promotion announced the pairing over the weekend. LFA 82 takes place at Mystic Lake Casino Hotel in Prior Lake, Minn., and will see Nate Richardson face Jake Childers in the featherweight co-main event. The main card will stream on UFC Fight Pass beginning at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
A former NCAA Division I wrestler at Northwestern University, Polizzi scored a first-round TKO of Pierre Walters in his promotional debut at LFA 70 on June 28. He returned to action to stop two-time UFC competitor Daniel Jolly in the opening stanza in his most recent appearance at Final Fight Championship 40 on Sept. 5. Polizzi is 5-0 as a professional, with all of his triumphs coming inside the distance.
Pogues, meanwhile, is coming off an appearance on Dana White’s Contender Series this past summer, where he outpointed Marcos Brigagao on Aug. 20. Pogues also notably fought once in Bellator MMA, falling to Jordan Young via submission in June 2018. The 24-year-old Californian is 7-2 as a professional overall.
