UFC veteran Francis Carmont will face a new foe at Bellator 158 after original opponent Linton Vassell withdrew from the light heavyweight contest due to injury.
Promotion officials announced on Tuesday that Lukasz Klinger will replace Vassell against Carmont in the main card bout. The exact nature of Vassell’s injury was not disclosed. Additionally, Neil Grove will step in for Mark Godbeer and meet James Mulheron in a preliminary heavyweight tilt.
Bellator 158 takes place at the O2 Arena in London on July 16 and is headlined by a 170-pound clash pitting Paul Daley against Douglas Lima. The evening’s main card airs on Spike TV beginning at 9 p.m. ET/9 p.m. PT.
A 32-year-old native of Przemysl, Poland, Klinger owns a 7-2 professional record, with all of his victories coming by way of knockout, technical knockout or submission. After winning his first six bouts, Klinger enters the matchup with Carmont having fallen in two of his last three outings.
Carmont began his Bellator tenure with decision triumphs over Guilherme Viana and Antony Ruiz but lost to Phil Davis via first-round knockout in his most recent appearance at Bellator 142 this past September.
