Yet another injury has struck Tachi Palace Fights 11, as promotional flyweight champion Ian McCall has been forced to withdraw from his Dec. 2 title defense against Josh Rave.
Tachi Palace Fights Entertainment Coordinator Jeremy Luchau informed Sherdog.com of the change Friday morning. Though Rave is still expected to compete on the card, no replacement opponent has been named as of yet. In light of the injury, a featherweight title tilt between Bellator veteran Georgi Karakhanyan and Isaac DeJesus will now serve as the main event.
Also featuring a bantamweight title bout between Cody Gibson and Ulysses Gomez in the co-headliner, TPF 11 will emanate from the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in Lemoore, Calif. The event streams live on Sherdog.com.
Regarded by many as the world's top flyweight, McCall, 27, has found great success at 125 pounds since going 1-2 in the WEC as a bantamweight. “Uncle Creepy” made a splash in his TPF debut in February, outpointing top-ranked Jussier da Silva before doing the same to Dustin Ortiz just three months later at TPF 9. Most recently, McCall captured the promotion's 125-pound strap by submitting Darrell Montague with a rear-naked choke on Aug. 5.
