An all-action welterweight bout has been added to the UFC 189 "Aldo vs. McGregor" bill, as Nate Diaz will square off with Matt Brown on July 11.

The matchup was revealed on Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight. UFC 189 takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and is headlined by a featherweight title tilt between Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor. In the evening’s co-main event, Robbie Lawler will defend his welterweight strap against Rory MacDonald.

Diaz returns to 170 pounds for the first time since April 2011, when he dropped a unanimous decision to Rory MacDonald at UFC 129. The Stockton, Calif., native has since compiled a 4-3 record at lightweight, including a loss to Benson Henderson in a 155-pound title bout at UFC on Fox 5. Diaz missed weight badly ahead of his most recent outing, checking in at 160.6 pounds prior to losing a unanimous decision to Rafael dos Anjos at UFC on Fox 13.

After a seven-fight winning streak propelled him into title contention, Brown will look to end a two-fight skid against Diaz. “The Immortal” has fallen to tough competition in his last two Octagon appearances, dropping consecutive decision to the last two welterweight champions, Lawler and Johny Hendricks.
