One Championship just announced its return to Indonesia on Thursday, as they prepare for their “Conquest of Heroes” card set for Sept. 22 in Jakarta, featuring a highly anticipated strawweight title fight rematch.
Reigning promotional strawweight champion Yoshitaka Naito will rematch Joshua Pacio in the main event. “Nobita” defeated Pacio with a rear-naked choke back in 2016, however “The Passion” has rattled off three impressive finishes in a row, as a spinning backfist knockout followed by two quick submission victories put him right back into title contention.
Elsewhere on the card, 23-year-old flyweight Yuya Wakamatsu (10-2) makes his One Championship debut against Danny Kingad. “The King” Kingad holds a 10-1 MMA record and is a wushu champion who fell short in his One Championship flyweight title shot against divisional champion Adriano Moraes in November 2017.
Former flyweight champion Kairat Akhmetov looks to earn another shot at Moraes, who took his title after “The Kazakh” pulled off a shocking upset in their first fight back in 2016.
Akhmetov faces Chinese national freestyle wrestling champion Ma Hao Bin, who has compiled an 11-3 record since his professional MMA debut in Jan. 2016.
