Sanchez-Kampmann, Dollaway-Munoz Greenlit for UFC Live 3

Former lightweight title contender Diego Sanchez will collide with the world-ranked Martin Kampmann in the UFC Live 3 headliner on March 3 at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Ky. The UFC on Thursday made official the event, which will air live on the Versus Network.

Sanchez (Pictured) last appeared at UFC 121 in October, when he defeated highly regarded Brazilian Paulo Thiago by unanimous decision at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif. Based at Jackson’s Mixed Martial Arts in Albuquerque, N.M., the mercurial 29-year-old has secured more than half (15) of his 22 career victories by knockout, technical knockout or submission. Sanchez has been finished only once -- by former two-division UFC champion B.J. Penn -- in 26 professional outings. Wins over current Strikeforce welterweight champion Nick Diaz, reigning Sengoku Raiden Championship middleweight titleholder Jorge Santiago and two-time UFC lightweight contender Kenny Florian anchor his resume.

“I want to fight the toughest guys out there to prove to the UFC and the fans that I’m ready for another title shot,” Sanchez said in a release. “I want the opportunity to show everyone what I can do when I am training the right way and focused. Kampmann is very tough, and he is also looked at as a top contender.”

Rooted at Xtreme Couture Mixed Martial Arts in Las Vegas, Kampmann has not seen action since he lost a controversial split decision to top contender Jake Shields at UFC 121 in October. A potent finisher standing and on the ground, the 28-year-old Dane has delivered 13 of his 17 career wins by KO, TKO or submission. Kampmann owns notable victories against former WEC welterweight king Carlos Condit, one-time middleweight title contender Thales Leites and “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 4 alum Jorge Rivera.

“It’s an honor being in the main event,” Kampmann said. “I’ve never been to Kentucky before, and I’m looking forward to beating up Diego Sanchez in Louisville and showing everybody what the UFC is all about.”

Meanwhile, “The Ultimate Fighter” Season 7 finalist C.B. Dollaway will lock horns with Mark Munoz in the co-main event.

Dollaway, 27, will carry a three-fight winning streak into the match. The 27-year-old Mount Gilead, Ohio, native last fought at UFC 119 in September, when he submitted Canadian journeyman Joe Doerksen with a first-round guillotine choke at the Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. Dollaway was a collegiate All-American wrestler at Arizona State University.

Munoz wrestled collegiately at Oklahoma State University, where he was a two-time All-American and became the first Filipino-American to win a Div. I national championship. The 32-year-old middleweight has not competed since he defeated Aaron Simpson by unanimous decision at UFC 123 in November. Munoz has four first-round finishes among his nine wins.
