Glover Teixeira vs. Jared Cannonier and Dustin Poirier vs. Jim Miller are among eight new bouts that were recently unveiled for UFC 208.
The Las Vegas based promotion also announced the following matchups: Luis Henrique Barbosa de Oliveira vs. Marcin Tybura at heavyweight; Ryan LaFlare vs. Roan Carneiro at welterweight; Randy Brown vs. George Sullivan at welterweight; Islam Makhachev vs. Nik Lentz at lightweight; Wilson Reis vs. Yuta Sasaki at flyweight and Ian McCall vs. Neil Seery at flyweight.
UFC 208 takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and features a clash between Holly Holm and Germaine de Randamie for the inaugural women’s featherweight crown. The UFC also confirmed a previously reported heavyweight tilt between Derrick Lewis and Travis Browne for the Feb. 11 event.
A former 205-pound title challenger, Teixeira had a three-fight winning streak snapped when he suffered a first-round knockout loss to Anthony Johnson at UFC 202. Cannonier, meanwhile, looked sharp in his light heavyweight debut, as he outpointed Ion Cutelaba at “The Ultimate Fighter 24” finale on Dec. 3.
Poirier won his first four bouts upon moving to lightweight but saw his winning streak come to an end in a first-round knockout loss to Michael Johnson at UFC Fight Night 94 on Sept. 17. The long-tenured Miller has earned successive triumphs over Thiago Alves, Joe Lauzon and Takanori Gomi in his last three outings.
