UFC 223 Update: Renato Carneiro vs. Calvin Kattar Booked for Brooklyn on April 7

Renato Carneiro will face Calvin Kattar at UFC 223 in Brooklyn, N.Y., on April 7.

Promotion officials announced the featherweight pairing on Wednesday. UFC 223 takes place at the Barclays Center and is headlined by a lightweight title tilt between interim champion Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov. In the co-main event, Rose Namajunas defends the her strawweight crown in a rematch against Joanna Jedrzejczyk.

Carneiro began his promotional tenure with a trio of victories, including a split decision against Jeremy Stephens at UFC on Fox 24. Most recently, however, “Moicano” suffered the first loss of his professional career when he was submitted by Brian Ortega at UFC 214.

Kattar, meanwhile, will enter the matchup on a 10-fight winning streak that includes a pair of triumphs in the Octagon. In his last outing, Kattar scored a third-round technical knockout against Shane Burgos at UFC 220.
