In a brief video posted on Instagram, the reigning UFC welterweight champion can been seen training body shots with interim lightweight king Justin Gaethje as coach Trevor Wittman looks on.
“Iron sharpens iron,” Gaethje wrote. “How much would you pay to watch this for a few rounds? [Kamaru Usman] is looking like a straight killer. Glad to have him in the room. Just two dudes having fun.”
Usman recently revealed that he left Hard Knocks 365 in Florida to train under Wittman in Colorado. Usman will defend his 170-pound belt against former stablemate Gilbert Burns in the UFC 251 headliner at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi on July 11.
Gaethje, after claiming the interim lightweight crown at UFC 249 in May, is expected to face Khabib Nurmagomedov in a title unification bout this September, although a date and location for that fight have not been announced.
