May 25, 2014 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- LOS ANGELES – May 23, 2014 – In anticipation of
UFC fighter Daniel
Cormier’s showdown with Dan
Henderson tomorrow night at UFC 173, INSIDE MMA correspondent
Ron Kruck caught up with the light heavyweight to discuss his
future career in the UFC on AXS TV’s Inside MMA tonight.
Said Cormier:
“[Dana White] told me that both of us would get a title shot if we
won. I’ve been hounding him. He’s probably tired of me going, ‘Hey,
when do I fight? When do I get a title shot? Who do I fight next?
What do I do?’ So if he doesn’t confirm to me then right after the
fight on Saturday I’m gonna be right in his back pocket… before he
can even set up the next fight. Realistic timeline for me: I know
it’s quite a wait if I get through Henderson, but [Jon] Jones
didn’t take much damage in his fight, [Alexander] Gustafsson took
no damage, those guys should fight in September.”
Cormier went on to directly address Jones and Gustafsson, saying:
Also during the interview, Cormier talks about his matchup with Henderson, who he calls one if his heroes, and jokes about their recent Popeye’s chicken incident. Watch Cormier’s full interview here:
