Aug 10, 2014 Comments
(PRESS RELEASE) -- Los Angeles – In an interview on AXS TV’s Inside
MMA tonight, UFC light heavyweight contender Daniel
Cormier discussed his relationship UFC light heavyweight
champion Jon Jones that
included a flair up earlier this week at a press event and an
off-air exchange after an interview with the two fighters.
Highlight quotes from the interview include,
Cormier on the aftermath of his the past week’s events:
“You’ve got two of the best fighters in the world fighting for a championship…. I think we need to focus more on that than all the stuff that’s happened outside of the cage. The stuff that’s happened outside of the cage isn’t good. It’s not a proud moment for me, it’s not a proud moment for Jon [Jones]. So we have to carry ourselves better and show people why they’re really tuning into the fight.”
Cormier on potential disciplinary action from the UFC or the Nevada State Athletic Commission:
“It hasn’t happened yet. We kind of expect for it to happen. You can’t behave in that way and not expect some sort of punishment. Whatever they divvy out is gonna be just and we’ll move forward from that.” The full interview with series host Bas Rutten and guest host Ron Kruck, who filled in for series host Kenny Rice this week, is available here:
Next week, INSIDE MMA returns to its regular time, Friday, Aug. 15 at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.
