UFC 189 World Championship Tour Quotes - Boston

(PRESS RELEASE) -- Las Vegas – Undisputed UFC® featherweight champion Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor are embarking on a world press tour spanning 10 cities in five countries over the course of 12 days to promote their upcoming world title bout at UFC® 189: ALDO vs. McGREGOR on Saturday, July 11 at MGM Grand Garden Arena to highlight International Fight Week. The event also features Robbie Lawler defending his UFC welterweight championship for the first time against No. 2 Rory MacDonald.

Jose Aldo:

“He has never faced a top fighter before. I see the fear in his eyes. He will suffer when he gets into the Octagon® with me. I’m not like the retired fighters and (newcomers) he is used to.”

“I don’t understand what he says and even if I did, it wouldn’t be a problem. He’s silly, but if he touches me during this World Tour he is screwed.”

“The only belt he is getting is the fake one. If he wants to buy one, he is welcome to do that because that is the only one he will ever see in this division.”

“He should go to Nova União and train with us. I know he wants to follow my steps.”

Conor McGregor:

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Press Conference – Boston – March 25

“Aldo should apologize to the Brazilian community in the United States instead of thanking them for the support.”

“There is a psychological war taking place, but I already won. I used his native language and said he is going to die and he didn’t do anything.”

“Inside the Octagon he will break. He will look for his exit and I will give him his exit.”

“It’s not easy to make weight, but I do and I do it professionally. I’m a monster in there. In my last fight I made sure to weigh one pound less to show I was ready for Aldo.”

“The body type and the words he uses are very similar to Diego Brandao. I predicted that fight. I can feel some déjà vu.”

Robbie Lawler:

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Fan Event – Calgary – March 25

“Rory is from one of the best camps in the world. I need to mix it up. I have to be smart and strategic, but I’m going to do what it took to get me to this point. I’m going to keep working hard, training hard and keep my belt. When the Octagon door closes, I will be ready to fight.”

“It is great to be around fans, take in their energy. I use it in my training to push me, to motivate me.”

“I try to stick mostly to a Paleo diet and eat well. I base my diet on how my body recovers.”

“I’ll fight in the streets. I’ll fight anywhere. I’m a fighter and that’s what I do.”

Rory MacDonald:

UFC 189 World Championship Tour Fan Event – Calgary – March 25

“The fight with Robbie is going to be the biggest fight of my career. I’m more focused than ever and I’m hungrier than ever. I am prepared for the hardest fight of my life and I feel confident and strong minded. I definitely learned a lot from my last fight against him.”

“I don’t have a smartphone anymore because it’s too distracting. It ‘zombifies’ people, so I’ve reverted back to a flip phone for texting and calling so I can still stay in touch with people without the distraction of all the apps and games.”

“I compare myself to a silverback gorilla and a lion, a cross breed with a little bit of a bunny. Gorillas are powerful and have a position as a leader, a lion for its heart and a bunny for its love.”

“I will have a much better mental approach in this fight and will be giving Robbie the respect he deserves. I don’t think I adequately gave him the respect he deserved last time, and I paid the price for it.”

“I like training in hand to hand combat and weapons training. It’s not just knowledge, but the hours spent training involved is critical to master the skills. This is something separate from my training as a fighter, but I think it’s interesting to know.”
