It wasn’t the type of statement-making performance indicative of the world’s best bantamweight.
Heading into Bellator Champions Series Paris, Patrick Mix had a legitimate claim to being the world’s top 135-pound talent, regardless of promotion. After a controversial split-decision triumph against Magomed Magomedov in Friday’s main event at Accor Arena, there are some doubts regarding Mix’s standing in the weight class. Perhaps Mix’s struggles were due in part to being booked in a rematch against an opponent he submitted less than two years prior. Or maybe Magomedov simply made the necessary adjustments to take “Patchy” out of his comfort zone. Either way, Mix’s ascent in the divisional rankings has undeniably slowed following his latest outing — but he does maintain his No. 4 ranking for the time being.

Finally, Aspen Ladd authored an unspectacular unanimous decision win over Katerina Shakalova on the Bellator Paris undercard. The UFC veteran has not been overwhelming since transitioning to the featherweight division, but she has been victorious in three of her four bouts at 145 pounds. In a shallow weight class, that’s good enough for her to remain a Top 10 talent, as she climbs one spot ahead of Arlene Blencowe to No. 9.
