Adriano Moraes Willing to Offer Demetrious Johnson a Rematch

“Mikinho” simply can’t refuse the greatest flyweight of all time.

Adriano Moraes (19-3, 10-3 One) made history after finishing former Ultimate Fighting Championship flyweight kingpin Demetrious Johnson (30-4-1, 3-1 One) at One on TNT 1. Moraes dropped “Mighty Mouse" with a short uppercut before landing a vicious knee to the grounded opponent, who fell on his back. “Mikinho” sealed the deal with three follow-up punches that stopped the contest 2:24 into Round 2, scoring the first title defense of his third run as the divisional champion.

“D.J. was on the ground, he fell, and he was staying in the perfect position to throw the knee,” he said while talking with Sherdog. “He tried to underhook me and tried to stand up in a wrestling position. This is a good position to throw the knee. Under the One Championship’s rules, this is allowed, you know? I did it, and it worked out really well. So, all the U.S. fans think about… Did you know? The One Championship has different rules than the UFC and the other organizations in the world. It’s good for people to see that it doesn’t exist just in the UFC. There are a lot of killers outside the UFC. There are other organizations that have their own ruleset. It’s a little bit different. Just join the One Championship website and check the rules.”

The American Top Team representative went on to say that he will take a little break to heal from the recent fight. However, when the time for his return comes, he is more than open for a rematch with Johnson.

“D.J. is the man, he’s the guy; he’s the greatest of all time,” he added. “If he wants the rematch, I cannot say no, right?”

During the interview, he also spoke about being the underdog going into the bout, how it was fighting in the morning, and much more.
