Arlene Blencowe Looks to Aggressively Show ‘Cyborg’ is ‘Beatable’

When Arlene Blencowe steps into the cage with Cris Cyborg at Bellator 249, she will be the Brazilian’s biggest betting underdog opponent since Yana Kunitskaya in March of 2018. However, the Australian is not lacking confidence, and she firmly understands no fighter is without flaws, even for one who has often seemed flawless. Blencowe believes “Cyborg” has weaknesses to exploit, and she expects to get right in the champion’s face and test that on Thursday night inside the Mohegan Sun Arena.

“At the end of the day she’s human. Everybody is beatable. Look at Ronda [Rousey]. Everyone thought she was unbeatable. Holly [Holm] exposed that. With any opponent, and the same goes for undefeated opponents, there is a way to beat everybody. Everybody is beatable, and that’s how I’m approaching this fight with her. She’s human. Obviously, the fight with Amanda [Nunes] exposed weaknesses. But I’m sure she’s gone back to her camp and worked on those weaknesses. That’s the beauty of MMA, we’re all learning and progressing and becoming better fighters every day…I would say the same about me. I’ve grown as a fighter and an athlete. I’m going to take it to her and see how it goes.”

In her conversation with Sherdog, the 37-year-old spoke about the preparation for her featherweight title fight and working with former and current Ultimate Fighting Championship titleholders in Holly Holm and Alexander Volkanovski during her camp. Plus, she talked about if she feels any added pressure to make the most of her second chance at Bellator’s 145-pound women’s title.
