William Gomis Recalls ‘Amazing’ First UFC Paris Event
William Gomis is ready to put on a show for the French crowd at UFC Fight Night 226, which is also being called UFC Paris.
Not even a last-minute opponent change is likely to prevent Gomis (12-2, 2-0 UFC) from delivering the performance French mixed martial arts fans expect from this weekend’s Ultimate Fighting Championship event at the Accor Arena. “The Jaguar” was supposed to face Lucas Almeida in an intriguing 145-pound matchup, but the former Jungle Fight titleholder was forced out of the clash due to an undisclosed injury. Now, Gomis will lock horns with Yanis Ghemmouri, who was rebooked from his fight with Caolan Loughran. Ahead of the assignment, Gomis credited his 10-bout winning streak to his strong team, training partners and dedicated physical preparation. He emphasized his readiness to deliver exciting fights and discussed a desire to avoid leaving the match's outcome to the judges, aiming for decisive victories. Gomis fondly remembered his UFC debut in France last year, where he felt the incredible energy from the crowd. He anticipated a similar atmosphere for his next fight, vowing to put on an even more exciting show for his fans.
“My memories from that night, that night was just amazing. Just amazing. If you didn’t see that, you can believe this. There were many people, and everybody from the French team won. It’s like a dream, and I can't wait to live that again. This time, I want to give a big show. This time, there will be a lot of striking. It will be a very different show. I want to give that to my people.”
