ESPN Boxing Weigh-in Results: Negrete, Frias Jr. Make Weight
A pair of super bantamweights will collide in the main event of the
next Golden Boy Promotions on ESPN card as Oscar Negrete will take
on late-replacement Sergio Frias Jr. on Friday night. The two will
headline what will be the 50th boxing event that Golden Boy has
hosted at Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, Calif., and at
Thursday’s weigh-ins, everybody came in on weight.
Frias Jr. (19-6-2, 10 KOs), who is coming off a sensational second-round knockout of Vic Darchinyan last July, was the first of the featured fighters to tip the scale and he came in at 118 pounds. Negrete (16-0, 6 KOs), who was originally supposed to face Randy Caballero and then Jesus Ruiz before both men were pulled from the fight, checked in at 117.5 pounds.
The action will go live on ESPN beginning at 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT.
