Sherdog’s Top 10: Most Prolific Strikers in UFC History
No. 10
10. Evan Dunham
Only nine men have connected with 1,500 or more strikes in the UFC, and Dunham -- at 1,489 and counting -- will soon join them.
Dunham has trained extensively in the Las Vegas area, most notably at Xtreme Couture. The 34-year-old Eugene, Oregon, native has made 17 appearances inside the Octagon, 11 of them victories. A four-time “Fight of the Night” award winner, Dunham has beaten “The Ultimate Fighter 9” winner Ross Pearson, “The Ultimate Fighter 5” semifinalist Joe Lauzon and American Top Team stablemates Gleison Tibau and Nik Lentz.
A Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt who was known more for his grappling prowess when he arrived in the UFC in 2009, Dunham has steadily improved his standup skills over the years. He has had four different fights in which he has landed at least 140 total strikes: 147 vs. Lauzon, 156 vs. Rodrigo Damm, 171 vs. T.J. Grant and 185 vs. Rick Glenn. Those four bouts account for 44 percent of his striking output in the UFC. Dunham lands 5.68 strikes per minute, tying him with John Lineker for ninth on the all-time list in that category.
