Daniel Zellhuber (12-0, 0-0 UFC) vs. Trey Ogden (15-5, 0-1 UFC)Advertisement
Zellhuber is a prospect with some solid potential. The 23-year-old Mexican won an entertaining decision over Lucas Almeida on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2021—a result that has aged well with Almeida’s own subsequent success. At 6-foot-1, Zellhuber has the type of frame that could cause a lot of problems for his opponents at lightweight going forward. After a long delay for his actual UFC debut, “Golden Boy” gets a strong litmus test against Ogden. A pro since 2015, Ogden is a well-rounded vet who can hold his own anywhere, though his strongest success comes when he can get the ball rolling on his wrestling and grappling. While his UFC debut resulted in a split decision loss to Jordan Leavitt in April, it speaks well to Ogden’s grappling skill that he managed to keep it relatively even on the mat. Zellhuber has shown enough wrestling and grappling chops of his own to get the nod, particularly as the more effective striker, but this should be his toughest test to date and could easily go the other way. The pick is Zellhuber via decision.
