CASE FOR: Few fighters have had the longevity of Belfort, who burst on the scene in the early days of the sport and remains a force today. His rapid-fire power punching was like something never before seen in MMA and made him a star for pretty much the entirety of his career. His fight with Anderson Silva at UFC 126 was arguably the most important in the sport’s popularity explosion in Brazil and did a mammoth buy rate in the United States, as well. CASE AGAINST: With that said, Belfort for most of his career tended to fall short against top opposition, often turning in baffling, uninspired performances. His late career surge put an end to that trend but raised an entirely different set of questions surrounding his miraculous, post-35 muscle growth and performance boost. VERDICT: Should he go in? He would probably get voted in, but I would not support his cause.
