Preview: UFC Fight Night 237 ‘Moreno vs. Royval 2’
Torres vs. Duncan
Lightweights
Manuel Torres (14-2, 2-0 UFC) vs. Chris Duncan (11-1, 2-0 UFC)ODDS: Torres (-162), Duncan (+136)
This should provide some entertaining violence, which is par for the course when it comes to Torres’ UFC career thus far. “El Loco” was a bit of a mess on the Mexican regional scene, mostly winning through a combination of reckless aggression and some decent grappling, but he has fought much cleaner since making it to the big stage and has not needed to show anything on the mat, scoring two knockouts in quick fashion. That should make for a fun combination with Scotland’s Duncan, a fairly straight-ahead fighter in his own right. He is not the best athlete, but he is willing to walk into close range and throw down; and if that fails, he pivots to a control-heavy wrestling game. Torres could certainly run himself into a losing fight, but this looks like a race to a knockout. Given that Torres is the quicker fighter and Duncan does tend to get clipped even in his wins, the Mexican figures to land the first big blow. The pick is Torres via first-round knockout.
