By The Numbers: Cody Garbrandt

Cody Garbrandt has drifted into a state of limbo.

Five years ago, Garbrandt’s star burned as brightly as any in the mixed martial arts sky. However, the former Ultimate Fighting Championship bantamweight titleholder now finds himself in a troubling tailspin, having lost five times across his past six outings. Garbrandt downshifted to 125 pounds in an attempt to restart his engines but only found more difficulty in his flyweight debut, as he succumbed to first-round punches from Kai Kara France at UFC 269 on Dec. 11. Where he turns next remains to be seen.

As Garbrandt awaits word from matchmakers on his next assignment, a look at some of the numbers that have accompanied him to this point:

30: Years of age for Garbrandt, who was born on July 7, 1991 in Uhrichsville, Ohio. “Terminator 2: Judgment Day,” “The Naked Gun 2½: The Smell of Fear,” “Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves,” “City Slickers” and “Problem Child 2” were the Top 5 movies at the domestic box office at the time.

10: Garbrandt wins by knockout or technical knockout, accounting for 83% of his career total (12). His list of victims includes Raphael Assuncao, Takeya Mizugaki and Thomas Almeida. Garbrandt owns two other wins by decision.

309: Days spent by Gabrandt as undisputed UFC bantamweight champion. He captured the title with a unanimous decision over Dominick Cruz in the UFC 207 co-main event on Dec. 30, 2016, then surrendered it in a second-round technical knockout loss to T.J. 200,000: Dollars in post-fight bonus money banked by Garbrandt across his 12 appearances in the UFC. He has been awarded “Performance of the Night” on two occasions and “Fight of the Night” on two others.
