Ciryl Gane never gave Derrick Lewis a chance.

The Frenchman claimed the interim heavyweight crown with a technical knockout victory over “The Black Beast” in the UFC 265 headliner at the Toyota Center in Houston on Saturday night, setting up a future clash with reigning champ Francis Ngannou. Gane battered Lewis’ legs with low kicks and once his movement was compromised, punished his foe with heavy punches to get the finish of the 4:11 mark of Round 3. Just 10 fights into his professional MMA career, “Bon Gamin” can call himself a champion — and he looks like a serious matchup problem for the rest of the heavyweight division.

7: Consecutive triumphs for Gane, tying him with Andrei Arlovski and Cain Velasquez for the second-longest winning streak in UFC heavyweight history behind Junior dos Santos (nine).

.800: Significant striking accuracy for Gane, who was extremely efficient in landing 98 of his 122 attempts. Lewis, meanwhile, lacked both volume and accuracy, as he land 16 of 37 significant strikes — a 43 percent success rate.

41: Significant strike advantage for Gane in the decisive third round. All told, “Bon Gamin” outlanded his foe by a whopping 98-to-16 count before the stoppage.

32: Significant leg strikes for Gane, who gradually hindered Lewis’ movement with low kicks over the course of the fight. “The Black Beast” landed just two significant leg strikes.

114: Significant strikes landed by Jose Aldo in a three-round verdict over Pedro Munhoz in the bantamweight co-main event. The Nova Uniao stalwart grew stronger as the bout progressed, outlanding his foe 42 to 33 in Round 2 and 47 to 14 in Round 3. Munhoz held a slight 28-to-25 edge in significant strikes landed in the opening stanza.

32: Significant body strikes landed by Aldo. Munhoz, meanwhile, landed just three. Aldo also outlanded his foe by a 74-to-35 count in significant head strikes.

37: Significant leg strikes for Munhoz. By comparison, Aldo landed eight.

4: Victories via brabo choke for Vicente Luque, who surpassed Tony Ferguson for the most such finishes in UFC history on Saturday night. Luque dispatched Michael Chiesa with the maneuver 3:25 into the opening round of their welterweight encounter.

13: Finishes in UFC competition for Luque, the second most in promotion history at 170 pounds behind only Matt Brown (14).

9: Strawweight victories for Tecia Torres, tying her with Carla Esparza for the second most in the history of the UFC’s strawweight division behind Joanna Jedrzejczyk (10). “The Tiny Tornado” earned a unanimous decision triumph over Angela Hill in a featured 115-pound contest at UFC 265.

144: Significant strikes landed by Torres, which surpasses her previous UFC best of 96 set against Angela Magana in her Octagon debut in December 2014. Hill landed 96 significant strikes in defeat.

4:08:33: Total Octagon time for Hill, No. 1 in UFC strawweight history. Hill’s 15 minutes in the cage on Saturday allowed her to surpass Jedrzejczyk (4:06:42) for the top spot at 115 pounds.

116: Significant strikes landed by Yadong Song in a split-decision triumph over Casey Kenney at bantamweight. That’s a UFC career high in eight career appearances for the Chinese fighter, whose previous best of 101 came in a decision win over Marlon Vera at UFC on ESPN 8.

4: Consecutive victories for Rafael Fiziev, who outpointed Bobby Green in an entertaining preliminary lightweight battle. That ties him with Brad Riddell and Damir Ismagulov for the fourth-longest active winning streak in the UFC. Only Charles Oliveira (nine), Islam Makhachev (eight) and Beneil Dariush (seven) have longer streaks .

143: Significant strikes landed by Green. By comparison, Fiziev landed 104. Green outlanded his foe 32 to 25 in Round 1, 45 to 36 in Round 2 and 66 to 43 in Round 3.

135: Combined significant striking advantage for Bobby Green in his last four UFC defeats dating back to December 2018. Green has dropped decisions to Fiziev (143-104), Thiago Moises (85-42), Francisco Trinaldo (50-31) and Drakkar Klose (92-58) despite holding a considerable edge in significant strikes landed in each of those bouts.

93: Significant strikes landed by Alonzo Menifield in a unanimous decision over Ed Herman at light heavyweight. That’s easily a career best for the Fortis MMA product, whose previous high of 39 came in a decision loss to Devin Clark last June. By comparison, Herman landed 41 significant strikes in defeat.

2,947: Days since Jessica Penne’s last submission victory, a rear-naked choke of Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc at Invicta FC 6 on July 13, 2013. Penne forced Karolina Kowalkiewicz to tap to an armbar 4:32 into the opening stanza of their strawweight bout on Saturday.

2: Career victories by way of flying knee for Manel Kape, who finished Ode Osbourne with that maneuver and follow-up punches 4:44 into Round 1 of their flyweight encounter. The former Rizin champ previously dispatched Hicham Rachid with a flying knee to the body 2:42 into the opening round of their clash at Invictus “Pro MMA League 1” on July 27, 2014.

2-7: Record for Kowalkiewicz dating back to November 2016, when she dropped a five-round verdict to Joanna Jedrzejczyk in a strawweight title bout at UFC 205. Those struggles include a current five-fight losing streak that began in September 2018.

80: Significant strikes landed by Miles Johns in a third-round knockout victory over Anderson dos Santos at bantamweight. Johns landed 80 of 118 attempts — a 60 percent success rate. Dos Santos, meanwhile, landed just 32 of 164 significant strikes, a 19 percent clip.

63: Significant striking deficit for Victoria Leonardo in two UFC bouts since earning a contract on Dana White’s Contender Series. Leonardo was outlanded by a 70-to-43 count in significant strikes against Melissa Gatto before their flyweight bout was stopped after two rounds. Previously, Manon Fiorot outlanded Leonardo 53 to 17 in significant strikes en route to a second-round TKO win on Jan. 20.
