The Ecuadorian known as “Chito” weathered a volume-based attack from Rob Font with heavy artillery, hurting his opponent badly in each of the last four rounds for a unanimous decision triumph in the UFC on ESPN 35 headliner at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas on Saturday night. Vera has won three straight fights in UFC competition and sends Font to the first two-bout skid of his professional MMA career.

Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC on ESPN 35, with statistics courtesy of UFCStats.com.

271: Significant strikes landed by Font in defeat, the third most ever in a UFC fight. Ex-featherweight champ Max Holloway owns the top two spots, landing 445 against Calvin Kattar at UFC on ABC 1 and 290 against Brian Ortega at UFC 231. Font outlanded Vera 57 to 26 in Round 1, 51 to 27 in Round 2, 71 to 37 in Round 3, 42 to 36 in Round 4 and 50 to 33 in Round 5.

112: Significant strikes by which Font outlanded Vera (271 to 159). That deficit is the largest for a fighter who won by decision in UFC history. Robbie Lawler, who was outlanded by 84 significant strikes in a welterweight championship victory over Carlos Condit, previously owned the record.

3: Knockdowns landed by Vera, making him just the ninth bantamweight in UFC history to land that many in a single fight. Vera floored Font in Rounds 2, 3 and 4 and also hurt his opponent badly in the final stanza, though he wasn’t credited with a knockdown.

42: Significant leg strikes for Vera, one of the few areas where he got the better of Font, who landed 24. Vera also held a 22-to-0 edge in significant ground strikes landed.

11: Bantamweight wins for Vera, tying him with Urijah Faber and Raphael Assuncao for third most in UFC history behind only T.J. Dillashaw (13) and Aljamain Sterling (12).

23: Career UFC victories for Andrei Arlovski, tying him with Donald Cerrone and Jim Miller for the most in promotion history. Arlovski defeated Jake Collier via split-decision in Saturday’s co-main event, his fifth victory in his last six Octagon appearances.

14: Unofficial media scorecards, of the 14 tracked by MMADecisions.com, that scored the bout in favor of Collier. Judges Douglas Crosby and Sal D’Amato saw things differently, as both submitted a 29-28 tally for Arlovski.

2,198: Days since Andre Fili’s last KO/TKO defeat, a head-kick knockout loss at the hands of Yair Rodriguez at UFC 197 on April 23, 2016. The Team Alpha Male product went 11 bouts before succumbing to Joanderson Brito via TKO in 41 seconds at UFC on ESPN 35.

7: Takedowns landed in 17 attempts for Grant Dawson in third-round submission victory over Jared Gordon at lightweight. Despite being outlanded by a 77-to-54 count in significant strikes, Dawson managed to ground his foe in each frame while enjoying 7:11 of control time before forcing Gordon to tap to a rear-naked choke at the 4:11 mark of Round 3.

24: UFC appearances for Darren Elkins, most in featherweight history. On Saturday, “The Damage” surpassed Max Holloway for the top spot in a unanimous decision victory over Tristan Connelly.

6: Fighters in UFC history who have at least 1,000 significant strikes, 50 takedowns and 10 submission attempts over the course of their tenures. Elkins joined an group that includes the likes of Georges St. Pierre, Frankie Edgar, Demetrious Johnson, Rafael dos Anjos and Nik Lentz. Elkins landed 75 significant strikes, secured five of 10 takedown attempts and attempted one submission against Connelly on Saturday.

7:52: Total control time for Elkins. Connelly, meanwhile, logged just 58 seconds of control time in defeat.

129: Total strikes landed by Krzyzstof Jotko in a unanimous decision triumph against Gerald Meerschaert at middleweight. By comparison, Meerschaert landed 46 total strikes. The Pole also held a 65-to-37 advantage in significant strikes and connected at a 52 percent accuracy rate compared to 40 percent for his opponent.

5: Consecutive victories for Alexander Romanov, tying him with Tai Tuivasa and Tom Aspinall for the second-longest active winning streak in the UFC’s heavyweight division behind only reigning champ Francis Ngannou (six). Romanov submitted Chase Sherman with a keylock 2:11 into the opening round of their preliminary clash.

16-0: Professional record for Romanov, a mark that includes 15 triumphs inside the distance along with one technical decision win.

3: Takedowns landed by Romanov in just 2:11 of Octagon time. The Moldovan heavyweight has landed at least two takedowns in all five of his UFC appearances.

7: Days between UFC events featuring kneebar submissions. One week after Claudio Puelles dispatched Clay Guida with a kneebar at UFC Fight Night 205, Francisco Figueiredo used the maneuver to finish Daniel Lacerda 78 seconds into their preliminary flyweight contest at UFC on ESPN 35. That’s the shortest break between kneebars in promotion history. Previously, the 28 days between >Carlos Eduardo Rocha’s submission of Kris McCray at UFC 122 and Jim Miller’s tapout of Charles Oliveira at UFC 124 was the quickest turnaround between kneebars.

20: Significant strikes by which Gabriel Green outlanded Yohan Lainesse during the decisive second round of their welterweight bout. Green ended the contest with a barrage of standing-to-ground strikes at the 4:02 mark after being dropped early in the period. In Round 1, Lainesse outlanded his opponent by 13 significant strikes.

108: Combined significant strikes landed by Natan Levy (46) and Mike Breeden (62) in the third round of their lightweight clash. In the first two rounds, Levy and Breeden combined for 88 significant strikes. Levy emerged from the entertaining scrap with a unanimous decision triumph.

9: Takedowns landed in 16 attempts by Levy, who enjoyed just 3:39 of control time for his work. Breeden, meanwhile, landed three of four takedowns for 1:56 of control time.
