By the Numbers: UFC Fight Night London

In a lengthy and distinguished career full of notable moments, Michael Bisping just earned the signature victory of his Ultimate Fighting Championship tenure.

Bisping edged Anderson Silva via unanimous decision in the UFC Fight Night London headliner at the O2 Arena on Saturday. In a bout filled with controversy and momentum swings, “The Count” somehow managed to hold off a man who he once idolized. Here is a by-the-numbers look at UFC Fight Night “Silva vs. Bisping,” with statistics courtesy of FightMetric.com.

18: UFC wins overall for Bisping, tying him with Matt Hughes for No. 2 all-time. Georges St. Pierre is first with 19 victories.

108: Significant strikes landed by Bisping, the fourth time in his Octagon tenure that he has exceeded the century mark. By comparison, Silva landed 75 significant strikes. Bisping outlanded his foe 17 to 8 in round one, 24 to 11 in round two, 21 to 18 in round three and 28 to 19 in round four. Silva held a 19-to-18 advantage in the final frame.

38: Significant leg strikes landed by Bisping. By comparison, Silva landed 13. Silva, of course, gruesomely broke his leg in a loss to Chris Weidman at UFC 168.

1: Knockdown from distance for Bisping, who floored his opponent in the second frame. All five of his previous career knockdowns came from the clinch.

18: Knockdowns landed by Silva in UFC competition, the most in the history of the Las Vegas-based promotion. Chuck Liddell is No. 2 with 14 knockdowns. The Brazilian floored Bisping with a flying knee toward the end of the third frame as the British fighter attempted to pause the bout to retrieve his mouthpiece.

1,393: Career significant strikes landed by Bisping, the most in promotion history. Georges St. Pierre is second with 1,254 career significant strikes landed.

4:20:04: Total Octagon time for Bisping, No. 3 all-time behind only Georges St. Pierre (5:28:12) and Frankie Edgar (5:37:49). “The Count” spent 25 minutes in the cage against Silva on Saturday to surpass Tito Ortiz (5:00:53) and B.J. Penn (5:18:07).

1,960: Days since Bisping’s last UFC bout in London, a unanimous decision triumph over Yoshihiro Akiyama at UFC 120.

81: Significant strikes landed by Gegard Mousasi in a clinical decision triumph over Thales Leites in the evening’s co-main event. The man known as “Dreamcatcher” landed 55 strikes to the head, 11, to the body, 15 to the leg, nine in the clinch and six on the ground. Leites, meanwhile, landed just 17 significant strikes overall.

0: Takedowns landed, in 10 attempts, for Leites.

1: Bout in which welterweight prospect Tom Breese has gone the distance after he was forced to do so in winning a unanimous verdict against 41-fight veteran Keita Nakamura. Breese had finished his previous nine victories, including two in the Octagon, by knockout, technical knockout or submission.

71: Total strikes by which Breese outlanded Nakamura. The Tristar Gym product also held a 32-to-6 advantage in significant strikes.

29: Significant strikes by which Francisco Rivera outlanded Brad Pickett in rounds one and two combined in their bantamweight matchup. Rivera outlanded his foe 37 to 16 in round one and 25 to 17 in round two. Rivera also outlanded his foe seven to six in a slower-paced round three. Still, it was Pickett, who landed three of five takedowns, who emerged with a split-decision triumph.

19: Media scorecards, of the 24 tracked by MMADecisions.com, that saw the fight in favor of Rivera.

10: Guard passes executed by Makwan Amirkhani in his three-round verdict over Mike Wilkinson in a preliminary featherweight clash. “Mr. Finland” also landed four of his seven takedown attempts in the victory.

.230: Significant striking accuracy for Parke, who landed a career low 17 significant strikes — in 72 attempts — against Khabilov. Parke’s career significant striking average is 36 percent.

77: Significant strikes landed by Daniel Omnielanczuk against Jarjis Danho in their heavyweight bout. Danho, by comparison, landed just 38. Omnielanczuk won via technical decision after the contest was halted early in the third frame due to an accidental groin strike. Omnielanczuk notably outlanded his foe 23 to 11 in body strikes and 24 to 2 in leg strikes.

24: Time, in seconds of Teemu Packalen’s rear-naked choke of Thibault Gouti, the third-fastest submission in UFC lightweight history.
